Description

Having trudged furrows across the Northeast from three decades of legwork, Rupa Chinai’s journal recounts her personal interactions with indigenous communities living in India’s little-known, politically sensitive border areas.

It is an endeavour to understand the reality of India through their eyes. “Barriers of geography, culture and race have long separated the people of the North East from those in the ‘mainland’, she said, adding that instead of building bridges, the Indian state has consistently pushed these communities against a wall.
The book provides context to the various protest movements of Northeast groups in their effort to determine their own destiny.
Speaking on the occasion, Niketu Iralu, Khesheli Chishi and Seno Tsuhah lauded the effort of the writer for the past three decades in physically visiting the interior areas in the Northeast, especially Nagaland and bring out the fact for a better understanding.
